1. Baden Württemberg
It is Germany's third largest state.
The most popular holiday destination in Baden Württemberg is Stuttgart.

4. Brandenburg

12. Saarland
This region was dominated by the steel and coal industry until the 1980s, when they became unprofitable. Being Germany's major coal source, after 250 years most of the mines were closed down and today we can tour many of them. 14. Saxony-Anhalt
Saxony- Anhalt is famous for its good soil, chocolates and cakes. Madgeburg is the capital, its cathedral is the oldest Gothic structure of Germany. 15. Schleswig-Holstein
This region is famous for the beauty of its islands, sandy beaches. The capital city is Kiel. When you are in Kiel, dive into the German Submarine U-995, it was used by the Nazis in World War II. Norwegian navy renovated it, since then it operates as a museum and allows to look into the inside of it, the engine room, control station, bunks and torpedo tubes. The northern beaches are best for surfing and the island of Fehmarn hosted the Kitesurf World Cup .

16. Thuringia
Thuringia region is often called as the green heart of Germany, with its mountains and forests. The most forgotten state of Germany, not surrounded by any foreign country or sea. The capital is Erfurt.
